About the program     

The Freshers’ Day and Club Inauguration event was held on the 2nd of September, 2024, at the SRM Auditorium, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tiruchirappalli Campus. The event was organized by the students of the 2nd and 3rd year of the College of Allied Health Sciences, under the coordination of the Faculty members of College of Allied Health Sciences, Dr. G. Rohini, Mr. Ramesh Krishnan S, and Ms. S. Shalini.

The primary objective of the event was twofold: first, to extend a warm welcome to the new students (freshers) joining the institution for the academic year; and second, to inaugurate the various student clubs that would serve as platforms for extracurricular engagement, enabling students to showcase their talents, organize activities, and participate in conferences and workshops.

Theme and Opening

This year’s Freshers’ Day theme was *Petal Prism, with students dressing in attire inspired by a floral fantasy theme. The event commenced with the students’ traditional singing of the Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries, including the teachers and Presidents of each batch of students.

Welcome Address

The official welcome address was delivered by Dr. K. Kumar Ebenezar, Principal of the College of Allied Health Sciences, SRMIST TRC. In his speech, he emphasized the significance of the club inaugurations, highlighting how these clubs would offer fresher’s a wealth of opportunities for personal and academic development. He extended a warm welcome to all the new students, encouraging them to make the most of these opportunities and strive for excellence in the academic year ahead. Dr. K. Kumar Ebenezer also introduced the distinguished guests of honour, Dr. D. Suresh, Dean, College of Occupational Therapy, and Dr. A. Sundararajan, Principal, College of Allied Health Sciences, SRM TMCRC.

Felicitation and Special Address

Dr. Kumar Ebenezar then felicitated Dr. D. Suresh and Dr. A. Sundararajan with shawls in a gesture of respect and appreciation for their contributions to the institution.

Following this, Dr. D. Suresh took the stage to share an inspiring address, where he reminisced about his own college experiences and how similar events had a profound impact on shaping his career. He urged the fresher’s to remain enthusiastic and proactive throughout the academic year, emphasizing the value of active participation in the clubs that had been inaugurated. Dr. Sundararajan warmly welcomed the fresher’s into the institution’s vibrant academic and extracurricular community and wished them success in their academic pursuits.

Club Inauguration

The formal inauguration of the clubs followed the special address, marking the official launch of new departmental clubs aimed at fostering student-led initiatives. The clubs would serve as vital platforms for organizing activities that complement academic learning and provide students with opportunities to exhibit their skills and leadership qualities. The event was formally concluded with the Vote of Thanks, delivered by Madhu priya from CPT, followed by the National Anthem.

Cultural Programs and Talent Show   

Post the formal proceedings, the cultural segment of the event commenced. Students from the 2nd and 3rd years performed a variety of cultural acts, including dance and singing performances. This was followed by a Talent Show for the fresher’s, where they were invited to showcase their talents. Several students took part in this event, exhibiting their skills in singing, dancing, and other forms of artistic expression.

Games and Closing

The cultural programs were interspersed with a series of engaging games, providing a lively and interactive platform for freshers to bond with their peers. The event culminated in a DJ session, where students came together on the dance floor, celebrating the conclusion of a successful day. The sense of camaraderie and celebration was palpable as the students danced symbolizing the close-knit community that the College of Allied Health Sciences is known for.
