Dr.Malmurugan,|Director and Dr.N.Balasubramanian, Deputy Director Trichy campus, flagged of the rally and emphasized the importance of occupational Therapy in rehabilitation of patients with physical. Psychological, social, cognitive problems. In lieu of World Occupational Therapy day, a program ‘Rehab Meet 2022’ was organized in the campus for 2 days. Around 50 spinal injured persons were admitted in the SRM Trichy medical college Hospital. They were given free medical examination, investigations and consultation. Sports, cultural and health education were conducted for all the persons. Mr. M. Somasundaram, Chairman, CII Trichy zone, Managing Director – Sri Amman Try steels private limited was chief guest and distributed prizes and awards for the spinal injured persons. He recorded that Occupational therapy helps differently abled person to regain functional independence in all areas of their lives like personal care, social life and vocational aspect. Dr.N.Sethuraman, Chief Director, presided the programme and described the importance of Occupational Therapy, how Occupational therapists help to overcome all barriers to achieve better quality of life among all age group and various categories of disability.
