About Us

According to the World Federation of Occupational Therapists, Occupational therapy is a client-centered health profession concerned which promotes health and well-being through means of occupation. The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable people to participate in the activities of daily living. Occupational therapists assist clients to achieve independence by working with people and communities to enhance their ability to engage in the occupations they want to, need to, or are expected to do, or by modifying the occupation or the environment to better support their occupational engagement.

Occupational therapy (OT) is a branch of health care that helps people of all ages who have physical, psychological, sensory, or cognitive problems. OT can help them regain independence in all areas of their lives. Occupational therapists help with barriers that affect a person’s emotional, social, and physical needs.

About University

SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tiruchirappalli campus started in the year 2021 offering a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs in Faculties of Engineering & Technology, Management, Medicine & Health Sciences, Science & Humanities. It is located at the Temple City Tiruchirappalli spread across 120 acres of Lush Green area.

College of Occupational Therapy falls under the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. It is attached to Trichy SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Center which is a premier Medical College in the area with having more than 1750 beds. Currently, we are offering Bachelor of Occupational Therapy course. From the Academic year 2024, we are starting Master of Occupational Therapy in Specialties of Neurosciences, Pediatrics, Orthopedics and Mental Health.

As Dean of the College of Occupational Therapy, I welcome each of you to explore our campus and the College of Occupational Therapy. You will find strong academic programs, taught by outstanding faculty, excellent clinical training, and a strong team of academic advisors who are ready to help you learn more.

You will find enormous opportunities for multidisciplinary research to be carried out within the campus and in the community. These researchers invite students to join them in discovering new science.

The College of Occupational Therapy has faculty and students who are deeply engaged in the community, both in clinical areas and in community organizations.

Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (B.O.T) – 4 Years &6-months compulsory rotatory internship:
The Bachelor of Occupational Therapy programme is4 years and 6 months of compulsory internship. The medium of instruction is English. After passing the prescribed examinations conducted by University, the students will have to complete six months of internship. The successful students will be awarded the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) degree by SRMIST.

The eligibility criteria are passed with a minimum of 50 % in HSC (+2) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or) Botany and Zoology and should be of age 17 years or above.
Masters of Occupational Therapy: We will be starting PG programs in Paediatrics, Neurology, Orthopaedics, & Psychiatry.
