World Autism Awareness Day Rally - April 1st 2022
College of Occupational Therapy, SRM Institute of Science and Technology organized AUTISM awareness rally on 1st April in lieu of World AUTISM day at Chathram bus stand. This Rally was held to increase the awareness about Autism among general public, Teachers, and society. More than 200 students from SRMIST Tiruchirappalli campus participated with great enthusiasms in the awareness rally under the Guidance of Dr.R.Shivakumar, Chairman, SRM Trichy & Ramapuram Campuses and Shri S.Niranjan president SRMIST.
Ms.M.Nithya, District Social welfare officer of Tiruchirappalli flagged of the rally and emphasized the importance of early identification and rehabilitation of children with Autism. She recorded that Occupational therapy help to regain social skills, communication, functional independence,and interpersonal relationship. She stressed that Occupational therapists help to overcome all barriers to achieve better quality of life among children with Autism. Dr.N.Balasubramanian., Deputy Director of Trichy campus felicitated the gathering and Dr.D.Suresh, Dean, College of Occupational Therapy, SRMIST delivered welcome address.
