Guest Lecture on Corporate Governance

Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology Trichy, Organized a Guest Lecture on “Corporate Governance” held at the Tiruchirappalli SRMIST Seminar Hall – IST 401 on January 30.01.2024 at 10:00 AM.

 Dr. R.K. Vaithiyanathan, Dean- S&H, delivered the presidential address. Mr. V. Ramachandran, Senior General Manager, Kothari Sugars and Chemicals Ltd, Kattur, Tiruchirappalli, was the esteemed resource person for the event. The Guest speaker delivered a comprehensive presentation on Kothari Sugar and Chemicals, focusing on its manufacturing processes and various departments within the industry. He placed particular emphasis on the mechanisms of corporate governance and its different types. Additionally, he discussed the roles and responsibilities, as well as the pillars and diverse boards, associated with corporate governance. The session also included a case study on Watson Public Ltd Company, along with an exploration of regulatory legislation. During the session, the resource person provided valuable insights into the relationship between corporate boards and management.  

Furthermore, the speaker elucidated on the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and its pivotal role in ensuring effective corporate governance. The session proved to be highly informative and held great promise for our understanding of this crucial aspect of business. 150 BBA and MBA students participated and enriched their knowledge on Corporate Governance.
