About the Program Events:

The Department of Clinical Psychology, College of Allied Health Science, Faculty of Medicine & Health Science, SRM Institute of Science and Technology has organized awarness program on “Mindful Mastery” at SRM Auditorium, Trichy between 9.30 am to 11.00 am to create an awarness about the mental health among AHS Students and also organized workshop on “Cognitive Behaviour Therapy” on 28th November 2023 (Tuesday) at Lecture Hall 2, Medical College, Trichy between 11.30 am to 1.30 pm for Clinical Psychology students. The theme of the program of session I (Mindful Mastery) was to make an awareness on “IMPORTANCE OF MENTAL HEALTH” among the college students about the mental health and addictive behaviour, preventive measures, and coping strategies of psychological distress. The Session II (Workshop on CBT) was exclusively organized for clinical psychology students to explore practise key skills and techniques in CBT for Neurotic and Psychosis cases with following activity and case based CBT approach.

The Program has been scheduled between 9.30 am to 1.30 pm and program preparations were made by the Dr. A. Sundhararajan, Vice Prinicipal, College of Allied Health Sciences and Faculty of Clinical Psychology and Clinical Psychology students. The program was started with thamil thai valthu followed by welcome address delivered by Ms. Thamarai Selvi, Faculty of Clinical Psychology, she invited all the dignitaries, students and faculties of SRM IST (AHS). Dr. N. Malmurugan, Director, SRM IST has delivered the presidential address. He also delivered the special note on Importance of Yoga and Psychological Well being. This would definitely help the students to understand their psychological health and to help prevent from distress. Followed by Dr. D. Suresh, Dean, College of Occupational Therapy has delivered the felicitation address and addressed the imporatnce of Mental Health and use of CBT. Dr. A. Sundhararajan, Vice Prinicpal, SRM IST – AHS has delivered the special note on the Mental Health – To break the Stigma.

Followed by Ms. P. Padma Priya, Faculty of Clinical Psychology welcomed the chief guest and Dr.

N. Malmurugan, Director has honoured our chief guest Dr. V.Suresh, Honorary Professor, Annamalai University and delivered the special lecture on the Mental Health to raise awarness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health and also to recognizes, utilizes, and enhances youths’ strengths and make an special note on Social Media Addiction in relation to Adolescent

Mental Health which its effect reversely on their sleep quality and life satisfaction, startegies to overcome social medial usage and preventive measures. It’s created a great impact and made changes among the AHS students about the myths of mental health.

Followed by Session 2 has initated and conducted the hands on training workshop on the topic of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy where he focused on specialized techniques in challenging and changing unhelpful cognitive distortions and behavioural techniques in a practical and case based approach manner and also focused on improving emotional regulation, and the developemnt of personal coping strategies related to Academic stress, Anger management and Coping strategies.

In Interactive Session, The Clinical Psychology students are voluntarily interested and come out for one to one interaction with the resource person for their psychological distress to make changes in their personality. Finally, the program was concluded with the feedback session by Clinical Psychology students.
