National Science Day 2022
SRMIST – Tiruchirappalli campus, conducted a webinar in connection with the National Science Day celebrations, on 1st March 2022. Dr. Logudurai R., Asst. Prof., Dept. of Chemistry, gave a welcome speech and welcomed all the dignitaries and the chief guest, Dr. Chandramohan R., former Principal – SreeSevugan Annamalai College, Devakottai, Tamilnadu. Dr. Malmurugan N., Dean – E&T, SRMIST, Tiruchirappalli Campus felicitated the chief guest and stressed the importance of science and technology with the present situations of the world.
The chief guest of the event, Dr. Chandramohan R., delivered a wonderful and informative webinar on Science Vision: Science and Technology for Sustainable Development. He explained the importance of the Raman effect and its applications. He beautifully correlated the poems from Tamil literature (Thirukkural, Thirumoolam, Naaladiyaar, etc.) with the modern scientific concepts such as quantum, atomic structures, nanotechnology, telescopes & microscopes, etc. After his webinar, students were given opportunity to express their thoughts on National Science Day, their favorite scientist, and their discovery. Mr. JeyaJeev, I Year B. Tech. CSE student spoke about Sir. C. V. Raman and his discovery of Raman effect. Ms. Vasantha Lakshmi A. R., I Year B. C. A. (Data Science) spoke about Charles Darwin and his journey towards the origin of species.
Students gave their feedback that they were delighted, motivated and happy to know about the scientific discoveries and its correlation towards the Tamil literature. Earlier, Mrs. Sasikala, Training Coordinator, SRM IST – Tiruchirappalli Campus invited the chief guest . The event was concluded with the vote of thanks given by Dr. Shobin L. R., Asst. Prof., Dept. of Physics.
