About the visit
As part of the student-centric learning mechanism to enhance learning ability, a one-month external internship has been organized for the Third year B.Sc. Clinical Psychology students by Department of Clinical Psychology, College of Allied Health Sciences, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tiruchirappalli campus in one of the well renowned centres, Athma Psychiatric Hospital and Research Centre, Trichy from 7th March 2024 to 11th May, 2024.
During the Internship period, the students were posted in the following branches:
1. Department of Psychiatry
2. Athma Mind City
3. Athma Special School
4. Shanthivanam Trust
During the visit, the students interacted with the patients especially those who stayed a long time for rehabilitation purposes, and observed how the clinical psychologist play an important role in providing mental support to patient and also the attenders. Our students have also enhanced knowledge about psychological services which include assessments, behaviour management programs, psychotherapy, and various training programs to enhance the quality of life for the parents having children with multiple disabilities.
We thank the people of Athma Psychiatric Hospital and Research Centre for the extensive training and the opportunity given to our students.
