ABOUT THE PROGRAM

SRM institute of science and Technology College of Allied Health Sciences, Tiruchirapalli. Students of Renal dialysis technology 3rd year 2nd year and 1 year participated in an outreach awareness program that was held at Sirugamani village on 14 March 2024.

We are thrilled to announce a momentous event organized by our college community to making awareness of World Kidney Day. Our students have dedicated their time and creativity to produce a thought-provoking short film aimed at raising awareness about kidney health and the importance of early detection and prevention of kidney diseases.

Mr. Jambulingam welcomed the medical fraternity, paramedical staffs, students and people gathered for the awareness program. Dr. Poongothai, Senior Medical Officer offered the presidential address and highlighted the importance of a “Healthy Kidney for all”.  Followed by the medical camp was started. Mr.Paranthaman delivered the vote of thanks.

Around 60 peoples live in sirugamani village have participated and got benefitted. In the camp, we focused on general checkup of Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, and General medicine. We have done a point of care test on the spot and gave medicines to the needed patients. A few patients were recommended to visit our medical college for further treatment.

 Members of the local community above 70 people gathered to learn and engage with the crucial message conveyed through the powerful medium of cinema. Through captivating storytelling and insightful narratives, our students have succeeded in conveying valuable information about maintaining kidney health and the significance of adopting healthy lifestyle practices our students has conducted the program of 1) drama (skit) about kidneys healthy food and unhealthy foods, 2) explained about stages of CKD and Symptoms of CKD, 3) projected a short flim about Kidneys awareness on eating junk foods and consumption of un prescribed tablets and alcoholic person life which is causing damage to kidneys,

 We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in the creation and execution of this awareness and medical camp, including the students, faculty mentor, and community partners, who have contributed their time and support.  

We hope that initiatives like these not only enrich our educational experience but also serve as catalysts for positive change in society. Once again, we commend our students for their dedication and creativity in spearheading this impactful endeavor. Let us continue to work together to promote health awareness and inspire positive action within our communities.
