According to the World Federation of Occupational Therapists, Occupational therapy is a client-centered health profession concerned which promotes health and well-being through means of occupation. The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable people to participate in the activities of daily living. Occupational therapists assist clients to achieve independence by working with people and communities to enhance their ability to engage in the occupations they want to, need to, or are expected to do, or by modifying the occupation or the environment to better support their occupational engagement.
Occupational therapy (OT) is a branch of health care that helps people of all ages who have physical, psychological, sensory, or cognitive problems. OT can help them regain independence in all areas of their lives. Occupational therapists help with barriers that affect a person's emotional, social, and physical needs.

As Dean of the College of Occupational Therapy, I welcome each of you to explore our campus and the College of Occupational Therapy. You will find strong academic programs, taught by outstanding faculty, excellent clinical training, and a strong team of academic advisors who are ready to help you learn more.
You will find enormous opportunities for multidisciplinary research to be carried out within the campus and in the community. These researchers invite students to join them in discovering new science.
The College of Occupational Therapy has faculty and students who are deeply engaged in the community, both in clinical areas and in community organizations.

Facilities
The institution maintains a computerized central library spanning 720 sq m, which is accessible to students. The library caters to the needs of both students and faculties, with a collection of over 15,000 books. Additionally, it subscribes to 80 specialized national journals and reputed newspapers for their benefit. The central library serves as a valuable resource for students to expand their knowledge and expertise.

- Occupational Therapistsare Health care and Rehabilitation professionals. Occupational Therapists useassessment and intervention to develop, recover, or maintain the meaningfulactivities, or occupations, of individuals, groups, or communities.
- Occupational Therapypractitioners enable people of all ages to live life to its fullest by helpingthem promote health, and prevent or live better with injury, illness, ordisability and often work with people with mental health problems.
- The word “Occupational”in Occupational Therapy can be misleading. This profession is not aboutvocational counselling or work training. Occupational Therapists often work ona team with other rehabilitation professionals, but the Occupational Therapist rolesare perceptible and marked. Occupational Therapists focus on how that functionaffects the ability to do the things that are important to them. Various healthissues can pose barriers to participating in daily activities.
Occupational Therapists help people to
- Learn new ways of doing things.
- Regain skills and develop new ones.
- Use materials or equipment that make life easier, or
- Adapt their environment to work better for them.
- An individualized evaluation, during which the client/family and Occupational Therapist determine the person's goals.
- Customized intervention to improve the person's ability to perform daily activities and reach the goals, and an outcomes evaluation to ensure that the goals are being met and/or make changes to the intervention plan.
- Use effective ‘job modification’ techniques in the workplace based on ergonomic principles to achieve a good quality of life in the community.
- Use early intervention programmes for neonates & school children to prevent secondary changes & learning disabilities.
- Occupational Therapy interventions include helping children with disabilities to participate fully in school and social situations, helping people recovering from injury to regain skills, and providing support for older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes.

Courses Offered
Undergraduate
BOT ( Bachelor of Occupational Therapy)
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy, students can become qualified professionals with the ability to practice independently or under supervision.
The eligibility criteria are passed with a minimum of 50 % in HSC (+2) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or) Botany and Zoology and should be of age 17 years or above.
Postgraduate
M.O.T. (Master of Occupational Therapy)
Master of Occupational Therapy equips students with the abilities and information needed to treat patients who struggle to engage in activities of daily living because of neurological, musculoskeletal, or mental health Ailments.

Eligibility
Candidates completed Bachelors in Occupational Therapy (B.O.T) from recognized universities in India and abroad and should have completed the age of 21 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the course.
Candidates should have secured 55% marks in BOT Degree examinations.
PhD. (Occupational Therapy)
Ph.D. - Occupational Therapy equips students with extensive research in the domains of Occupational Therapy and Disability Rehabilitation.
Eligibility
Candidates completed a Bachelor in Occupational Therapy (B.O.T) from a recognized University in India and abroad with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade on a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.
